Other 2011 Vancouver Drawing Events :
Artemis Gallery (Deep Cove)
Inspired by and in relation to the Vancouver Draw Down Finale, the Artemis Gallery in Deep Cove hosted an afternoon of free, fun-filled drawing activities for the whole family with artist Jasna Guy on Saturday, July 23, 2011 the same day as the Vancouver Draw Down Finale. They had a successful and fun-filled day with lots of participants, some from the neighborhood, but many out-of-town visitors, as well. They presented several activities, including collaborative creatures, some of the Daily Drawing Project ideas, (on black card), a post-it note drawing and a large collaborative wall drawing. Artist Shannon Browne, owner/curator of Artemis, worked with Jasna to develop a collaborative wall drawing using tracing parchment covered with powered graphite. Participants were invited to draw with erasers, pulling out light areas from the grey background. The drawing was finished with black and white China markers for added emphasis. Many of the creature drawings were hung outside in front of the gallery, which attracted a lot of attention. "We want to thank the Vancouver Draw Down team for their fantastic ideas, their website drawing activities, and their enthusiasm. We couldn't have had such a great day in Deep Cove without the help and the support of your fantastic, 'Vancouver Draw Down: Summer of 10,000 Drawings' project!"
