Cameraless Filmmaking Kensington Community Centre
OCT 1, 2016 1pm – 4pm Kensington Community Centre | 5175 Dumfries Street FREE | No registration required
Want to make a film, but don’t have a camera? Iris Film Collective member Ryder White will lead a cameraless filmmaking workshop to celebrate BIG DRAW 2016! Cameraless, or direct filmmaking, is a style of working with film that produces images through drawing and scratching on the surface of the material itself. Advanced participants may want to try their hands at animation, but attendees of all experience levels will have fun marking up strips of 16mm and then watching their abstract colours flash by on projection.
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
Ryder Thomas White is a writer, filmmaker, educator, and multimedia artist who collaborates with the local community to produce work. He is interested in the intersection of new and old technology, and the absurdity of modern living.
Nestled in beautiful Kensington Park and located at Knight Street and East 37 Avenue, Kensington Community Centre offers a wide variety of recreational activities for all ages. Specialty program spaces include a fitness centre, preschool, pottery studio, gymnasium, dance studio, meeting rooms, and a leisure swimming pool perfect for beginners and lesson participants.
