ARCHIVE 2012 - Community Wish Flag Workshop at Champlain Heights Presented by The Bright Red Crayon with Zee Kesler & Erin Leigh PasternakSaturday, June 9, 2012 from 11:00am - 1:00pm
Champlain Heights Community Centre, 3350 Maquinna Drive, Vancouver BC FREE Join Zee Kesler and Erin Leigh Pasternak for a Wish Flags workshop. Wish flags are based in the Tibetan Buddist prayer flag tradition of hanging small fabric banners printed with messages of peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. Share your dreams for future generations! The flags are hung outside, and wishes are sent off as you flag blows in
the wind. Create a set of flags with your own personal messages and symbols of goodwill. Give, Trade, or take one of your flags with our community Wish Flag collection! The simple techniques that will be used are suitable for people of all ages and abilities. All materials will be provided. The Bright Red Crayon is a kids art collective that aims to explore playful & creative interactions between children, local artists and their communities. We encourage kids to explore, invent, try, fail, re-use, share and celebrate their unique ideas, no matter how wacky! Contact Linzee at brightredcrayon@gmail.com for more information. Champlain Heights Community Centre is situated on Champlain Heights Park in the south eastern area of the city near East 54th Avenue and Kerr Street. All ages can find a wide selection of recreation programs here where cultural diversity is celebrated. The Centre opened in 1981 and was renovated in 2005 which added a childcare centre, activity room and youth lounge to allow for increased programming. |
