OCT 1, 2016 12pm – 1:30pm Creekside Community Centre | 1 Athletes Way Workshop Location: Plaza near Seaside bike path FREE | No registration required
Explore the traces left behind when we dance. Using washable paint we will create a map of our dancing pathways as we improvise through space on the Creekside Community Centre Plaza. Together, we will compose a large-scale painting using the lines, shapes, patterns and textures created by our diverse ways of travelling, whether on wheels, feet, or with the use of crutches or canes. This workshop is open to people of all ages and abilities including persons with disabilities and mobility device users.
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
All Bodies Dance Project is an inclusive dance company that brings together artists with and without disabilities to explore movement as a means of creative expression. All Bodies offers accessible and inclusive dance classes for people of all abilities. We strive to create an open, safe and fun environment where everyone can experience the joy of moving and creating within a diverse community. In our mixed ability dance practice, differences are regarded as creative strengths as we explore the choreographic possibilities of wheelchairs, crutches, canes and celebrate different ways of moving and perceiving. We seek to make opportunities for every body to discover dance and for artists with disabilities (and without) to access dance training. We want to widen the spectrum of who dances and what dance can be.
