The UBC Learning Exchange Draw Down committee is made up of a group of community artists who have generously volunteered their time, energy and talents to create this year’s event. Members of the committee include Celyna Sia Sherst, Gary Donaldson, Chris Joseph, Peter, Badur Jaffer, Sayuri and Taylore and are from various Vancouver communities, in particular the Downtown Eastside. The committee looks forward to hosting an event that celebrates the artistic genius of all generations and cultures.
The UBC Learning Exchange is a community-university engagement initiative in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. We have been working with local residents for fifteen years to provide all kinds of learning and volunteer opportunities, based on the strengths of the community. Activities include peer-led English and computer sessions, and a myriad of special interest groups from fly-tying to dance.
