Drawing Outside the Box The Gathering Place Community Centre
JUNE 14, 2014 1pm – 3pm The Gathering Place Community Centre | 609 Helmcken Street FREE | No registration required
Artist Larissa Healy will demonstrate how traditional native artists interpret their environment, with a graffiti twist. Fellow drawers will learn how to interpret an image, how to develop letters into symbols, and finally how to tie it all together into telling a story. Materials include colour markers, letter templates, and paper. Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
Larissa Healy (GURLTWENTYTHREE) is a young white bear woman of the Ojibwe-Nanisnable/Peguis Band. She has been practicing graffiti and hip hop art for almost 20 years. She has spent most of her career working with at risk youth groups, mentoring their artistic development.
