JUNE 14, 2014 10:30am – 12:30pm Coal Harbour Community Centre | 480 Broughton Street FREE | No registration required
Scribble and scrawl your way into art. With colour paper and various chalks and pastels of your choice rapidly sketch poses made by participants around you. Or be inspired by the public and things around you to have your images attempt to capture the movements in the crowd. Learn how to put body language into your work, even for a potted plant?!
Your renderings will be posted on large window in real time for all to enjoy from the sea wall! Draw so quickly that you overcome your inhibitions. If you are not sure what gesture drawing is, workshop leader Andi Mori will be happy to get you going with some fun warm-up activities.
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
Andy Mori is an illustrator/cartoonist whose work appeared in books, magazines and newspapers spanning 25 years. Andy became involved in this type of art work because of childhood interest in cartooning and art. This came from seeing his mother's paintings and with his father's fondness for newspaper comics. This talent was nurtured in school and college years leading to an arts profession. He has studied fine arts and art history at Concordia University in Montréal, University of Victoria and has a diploma in Digital Art from Thompson Rivers University.
Just steps from the Coal Harbour seawall, the Coal Harbour Community Centre has outstanding views of the harbour and the North Shore mountains. Come on in and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed!
