Join the Vancouver Art Gallery for a range of explorative drawing activities inspired by the Douglas Coupland exhibition. Sketch for a still life inspired by the artists new piece ‘The Brain’. This free workshop in the Annex of Vancouver Art Gallery is open from 11am to 4pm.
Also take part of in the special Draw Down gallery tours where educators will lead the public through the Douglas Coupland exhibition, inviting audiences to sketch works of art. Taking inspiration from Coupland’s use of materials from popular culture, visitors will look closely at the exhibit’s diverse range of media and use drawing as a method to explore the creative process behind these works. The guided tours will be offered throughout the afternoon (11am–12pm; 12–12:30pm; 1–2pm; 2–2:30pm; 2:30–3pm). These guided drawing tours are free with admission to the gallery.
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
The Vancouver Art Gallery 2014 exhibition schedule features an exciting mix of contemporary and historic presentations highlighting outstanding artists from British Columbia, Canada, and around the world. The Gallery is also very honoured to present The Forbidden City: Inside the Court of China's Emperors, a monumental exhibition featuring approximately 200 treasured objects from the collections of the renowned Palace Museum in Beijing.
