JUNE 14, 2014 2pm – 4pm Main Street Poodle Park | Corner of Main Street & 18 Avenue FREE | No registration required
Vancouver artist Ian Forbes invites you to be inspired by the effort and artistry that goes into preening poodles under the Main Street Poodle, one of Vancouvers most talked about works of public art. Make a drawing of a poodle and join the Poodle Parade: a large scale drawing celebrating all things poodle.
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome (and poodles of all sorts too!).
Ian Forbes was born in Toronto and raised in Alberta. He has an MFA in painting from the University of Alberta. Until 2008 he taught at Grande Prairie Regional College, and then decided to pursue his studio practice full-time in Vancouver.
Perhaps ironically, Ian decided to become a visual artist despite having terrible eyesight. Vision (or lack thereof) is one of the defining characteristics of his life. He peers out at the world, struggling to perceive what other people take for granted. His distorted, myopic and highly personal vision has determined his equally distorted, myopic, highly personal way of art making.
