Riverscape
Thunderbird Community Centre

OCT 1, 2016
12pm - 3pm
Thunderbird Community Centre | 2311 Cassiar Street
FREE | No registration required

The Thunderbird community has a creek flowing thru it, to the waterfront. Known as
"Stillcreek", the creek has been the focus of several, local art initiatives such as mural
paintings, Renfrew Ravine project and a historical project.
On Saturday, October 1st, participants, young and old, are invited to join artist, Emily Gray, to
draw or trace West Coast, indigenous animals, birds, fauna and sea life in a flowing
riverscape.

Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.

Emily Gray is a Vancouver based Artist whose focus is on murals, community art, canvas paintings and ceramics. She has been painting murals for over 10 years in rural B.C., Vancouver, lower mainland and Hawaii. Emily is a creative artist who was inspired at a young age from growing up on the west coast of B.C. With great gratitude, Emily Gray praises the environment she grew up in, her life experiences and all of the teachers she has had on her way. Towards the end of that same summer, the City of Vancouver and the Mount Pleasant BIA hired Emily through a selection process based on her design abilities and visionary experience. This became her largest solo mural (1,700 square feet) and holds a prominent position on the corner of 10th Ave and Main St, in one of Vancouver's most cultural and historical neighbourhoods. This mural project was such a success it has led to more work with the City of Vancouver, local businesses and homeowners. In August 2014 Emily was the lead artist on a project to paint part of the Vancouver city Seawall. This project was in partnership with City Studio, City of Vancouver and the Spyglass Community. She immensely enjoyed working with the public and was profoundly inspired to continue this sort of community-based art projects.
