JUNE 14, 2014 1pm – 4pm Hillcrest Community Centre | 4575 Clancy Loranger Way FREE | No registration required
Join mixed media artist Katherine Nielsen in Hillcrest’s cave of wonders! After crawling inside the cave, children and adults alike will be invited to draw on its walls and floors just like cave men did thousands of years ago. People have lived in all sorts of places throughout history, but cave paintings are still as exciting and fascinating today as they were to the people who first drew them. They decorated their homes with bold images that told the story of how they saw the world. How can you use your drawings to tell the story of the way you see it? We’d love to see!
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome.
Raised in Wales in the UK, Katherine Nielsen attended university at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and graduated with a focus in painting. She now lives and works in Vancouver as a mixed media painter and part time arts instructor. Nielsen explores pushing her materials to their limits in her artwork by pairing unorthodox art materials together, for example, using acrylic paint on glass or a combination of inks and watercolors on recycled fabric.
